RE-USE AND RECOVERY
Capitol Reuse and Recovery Services provide professional engineering and technical expertise in
the use and management of chemicals, solvents, and specialty products from acquisition to disposition.
This professional service utilizes our expertise in the recovery, reuse and resale of materials typically
generated from the chemical related industries, including, but not limited to, alcohols, amines, ketones,
aliphatics, aromatics and specialty products.
Properly managing materials requires a broad and in-depth knowledge of market values, market uses and
acceptability, material specifications, technology, technical resources and waste disposal options. Capitol’s
broad experience in these areas will enable us to properly evaluate any and all materials and optimize your
economic return with respect to risk. As illustrated in the following figure, a customer can impact material
management in the product design and process design phases, whereas Capitol can impact material management
in the After Market. At the Production Design Phase, a customer’s design decisions and Capitol’s After Market
expertise can merge to optimize best available practices. Examples would include piping for material segregation,
collection of various distillation cuts, segregation of vapor recovery knock-out pots, or conical bottom storage tanks to
promote phase separation of immiscible liquids.
Capitol can evaluate each of the customer’s materials for its market value “as is” and its market acceptability.
This evaluation includes process, logistical and market operations for opportunities to lower direct costs, lower risks
and maximize material economic opportunity. Additionally, we can evaluate the necessary steps to improve the
market value and acceptability, and compare those steps against the costs and available resources, including the
existing waste liability and the material replacement cost. In this approach, the total cost of a solvent is viewed as the
cost of acquisition and the cost of disposal. At the completion of this evaluation, we will provide our customers with a
summary of our findings and a management-by-fact plan that identifies the current state, desired state, root cause, proposed
plan and identified risks and opportunities.
